Hajimé is a simulation of a karate competition fight. Each player has two dice and a hand of six cards. The black cards are used for attack, the red ones for defense. The die is used both to move the karateka and to choose an attack, depending on the value of the black cards in hand. The defending karateka can either play a red card or retreat on a roll of the dices. If he leaves the tatami, he is warned by the referee. The "lack of control" defense card can also result in a warning from the referee for the attacker. Instead of fighting, players can exchange one or more cards from their hand. At the end of each round, they must replenish their hand to six cards. The fight ends when the draw pile is exhausted. The winner is the one who has scored the most points; in the event of a tie, penalties are taken into account. A scoreboard is provided in the bottom of the box.
