Player ratings were based on previous season performances but variables came into play when players changed teams due to trades and free agent signings. Rookies' ratings were based on minor league records predicted as projected major league stats. Ballpark conditions also came into play. An all-time all-stars edition that featured players from various eras in a special "Star Squads' edition was later produced in addition to regular season team rosters. "Calcu-Ball" was the first of its kind on the market that was based on the use of an existing basic calculator and packaged primarily for mail orders. Potential Play results were very detailed and even included rain delays but no injuries so that players competed on a level playing field so to speak.
